Nasr Azarmehr
Nasr Azarmehr was born in 1977 in Isfahan (Iran) in an artistic family.
Nasr Azarmehr graduated with a Master in Fine Arts and Crafts from the University of Tehran (Iran), where he later taught in the fields of Fine Art and Art History. He taught at the universities of Tehran and Isfahan from 2007 to 2011.
He combined his teaching with restoration work commissioned by the central state organization in Iranian museums.
Nasr was a successful artist in Iran. He also had his own company there. He is a professional who combines knowledge of materials and techniques with innovative ideas and courage.
Until his forced flight (2013) to the Netherlands, he worked on behalf of national and local governments, museums, international organizations, such as the United Nations, and private clients. Many of his works adorn streets, parks and public buildings in Iran, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and other countries in the Middle East. His large sculptures (up to 15 m high: 3 CUNST 2015, Iran) are located in important public spaces in the Middle East. In addition to his own work, he has specialized in the restoration of historical
art objects, sculptures, books, paintings and old musical instruments. He has years of experience and knowledge of both traditional restorations and civil restorations. From 2013 to the present, Nasr has been working as a freelancer in art restoration and designing art and musical instruments in the Netherlands. During this time he tried to learn European art techniques.
Now Nasr experiments with ‘a combination of traditional Iranian techniques and his new found artistic freedom.’
Nasr works with any material such as: bronze, wood, stone, iron, plexiglass, glass ... even food. He aims to expand his work, which is based on scientific methods, to other countries.
In 2015, Nasr had his first exhibition in the Amsterdam Museum with European art professors.
In 2016, he was allowed to exhibit his work in the Rijks Museum at the Rembrandt exhibition.
Now he also gives masterclasses in the field of art restoration.
